
Department of Architecture visited Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang for Cooperation Initiation
The Department of Architecture FT UB always strives to improve the quality of graduates and the number of collaborations with educational institutions abroad. For this reason, for 3 days (8-11/2), the team led by the Head of the Department of Architecture, Dr. Lisa Dwi Wulandari and Department Secretary Dr. Damayanti Asikin with Liaison IRO FTUB Dr. Yusfan Adeputera Yusran made a visit to the School of Housing, Building and Planning (HBP) Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Penang. The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs HBP USM, Dr. Radzi Ismail, and all lecturers from HBP USM.
In this meeting, several important agendas were discussed as part of the initiation of collaboration between FT UB and HBP USM including; opportunities for joint research, design studio collaborations, student exchanges, inbound-outbound activities, credit equalization schemes, visiting professors in a 3 in 1 scheme, and plans to organize joint international conferences. The hope is that in the near future, several technical items for the implementation of activities can be agreed upon which will be poured into a Memory of Agreement (MoA) between the two parties.
5 (five) master students from the Masters Program in Architecture were also joined and carrying out an outbound program to George Town, Penang, Malaysia. While on Penang Island, MALB program students conducted surveys at several historical and tourist sites to study the management and arrangement of historic areas protected by UNESCO around the buffer and core zones of the George Town historic area.
