On September 26, 2024, the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) held an Outcome Based Education (OBE) Workshop at the Grand Mercure Hotel in Malang.

This activity was attended by all lecturers of the Department of Architecture FTUB and aimed to improve understanding and implementation of the OBE curriculum within the Department.

This workshop presented Prof. Dr. Eng. Widya Wijayanti, ST., MT. as the main speaker. This Mechanical Engineering Professor is an expert in the field of outcome-based education (OBE) and has extensive experience in curriculum development according to national and international education standards.

In her presentation, Prof. Widya shared the latest information on the strategy for implementing the OBE curriculum and its relevance to the Merdeka Belajar program launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

During the workshop, participants were invited to discuss interactively the challenges and opportunities in implementing the OBE curriculum. Prof. Widya also gave an in-depth explanation of the importance of aligning learning outcomes with the needs of industry and society, so that graduates have competencies that are in line with the times.

Head of the Department of Architecture FTUB, Dr. Lisa Dwi Wulandari, ST, MT, CIQaR, CIQnR, CIMMR expressed her hope that this activity could be the first step to strengthen commitment in implementing the OBE curriculum.

“We hope that through this workshop, lecturers can better understand the principles of OBE and be able to apply them optimally, so that the expected output targets can be achieved,” she said.

With the implementation of this activity, the Department of Architecture FTUB is increasingly optimistic that it can improve the quality of education and produce graduates who are superior, globally competitive, and ready to contribute to community development. (mic)
