FT-UB (9-12/May/2016); Faculty of Engineering enliven the spring festival of France in 2016,Printemps Français, 2016. For about 4 days, Department of Architecture and Urban Regional Planning (PWK) synergized with IFI (Institut Français d’Indonésie). In this event and seminar held a joint exhibition of architecture and urban design under the theme of Arsitektur Masa Depan, The Future Architecture.

On the first day, a French speaker opened the seminar. Grégoire Dubreux exposing some of the designs. One of the principal of the MU Architecture firm is to explore the detail of his work.

“City of the future is about community participation! How does a designer to understand the aspirations of the community and residents.” said Grégoire stressed the importance of involving communities in the design in a metropolitan city like Paris.

The topic getting warm in the question and answer session. Many students curious about this participatory method. The discussion went intense with the participation of Architecture and PWK Department lecturers who attended.

Cross Learning from Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya

On the second and third day, FT-UB got a chance to give knowledge about the future city. Prof. Ir. Antariksa Sudikno, M. Eng., Ph.D., of the Department of Architecture and Dr. Ir. Agus Dwi Wicaksono, Lic. Rer.Reg of the Department PWK be the speaker.

Still in line with the exposure of Grégoire Dubreux, both give more multidimensional context to the idea of ​​Future City. Prof Antariksa discusses the importance of ethics in architecture. While Dr. Agus explained about the design of the third generation for sustainable cities.

In addition to seminars, IFI and FT-UB also held a joint exhibition which was held for 4 days. On the outside lobby of FT-UB building visitors can learn French architecture and also Architecture & PWK student work.

Learning Opportunities to France

On the last day, FT-UB held an open talk show with IFI discussing about study opportunity to France. Invited in this discussion Astrini Simajuntak of IFI, Dwi Maulidatuz Zakiah, PWK Alumni who earned GEAL master in Paris IV Sorbonne, and Naufal Abdullah Ramadhan student of French literature UB.

The talk show was open to all students of architecture and PWK. In this discussion Astrini gave an explanation of how is the education system in France and the wide-open access for foreign students there. Meanwhile, Dwi and Naufal describes their experience studying in France and what are the advantages if students are interested to continue their study there.(emis/mic)
