History of Master and Doctoral Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya

Graduate Program UB (PPSUB) initiated since 1981. Pioneering begins with cooperation between UB with Gadjah Mada University to conduct program activities Credit Collection (KPK) UGM – UB. This program aims to assist UB in planning and implementing postgraduate education independently.

Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 325 / DII / 1982, the Commission UGM-UB program opens Education Program (S2) for Socio-Economic Studies Program. Furthermore, based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 348 / D / 1982, the Commission UGM-UB program opens S2 Plant Science Study Program. Event registration of candidates for graduate students in the UB began in early 1982. In the academic year 1985/1986 the Commission UGM-UB program opens S2 Study Program of Land Management and Water by the Minister of Education and Culture No. 1872 / DK / 1985.

In accordance with the development of capabilities and facilities owned by the UB and request relevant stakeholders need, in 1989 opened Interests (interest) Post Harvest Technology, and in 1990 opened Interests Feed (both in Plant Science Studies Program S2); Interests Marketing opened in 1990 (in S2 Social Studies Program of Agricultural Economics).

After eleven years of the status of the Commission UGM-UB program, the Director General of Higher Education pursuant to Decree No. 104, 105, 106 / Higher Education / Kep / 93, since the date of February 27, 1993 Graduate Program UB conduct its activities independently by three S2 Studies Program, namely: (1). Agricultural Economics, (2). Plant Sciences, and (3). Soil and Water Management.

With the development of graduate studies program at UB, and a growing number of enthusiasts who want the opening of new courses, start the academic year 1995/1996 Graduate Program UB open seven courses S2, namely: (1). Post Harvest Technology Studies Program, (2). Animal Science Program, (3). Program Management Studies, (4). Science Program Administration, (5). Biomedical Studies Program, (6). Reproductive Biology Study Program, (7). Water Resources Engineering Program.

Starting in 1998 Brawijaya University Graduate Program S2 courses for Civil Engineering with SK Director General of Higher Education no. 52 / DIKTI / KEP / 1998 dated 23 February 1998 and in 2001 for Mechanical Engineering with SK Director General of Higher Education no. 91 / DIKTI / KEP / 2001. Then in 2007 opened a master’s program in Electrical Engineering with Higher Education Decree no. 1575 / D / T / 2007 dated June 29, followed by a course 2007dan laintermasuk more Doctoral programs are presented in Table 1.

Under the Rector’s Decree No. 030 / SK / 2006 on the Implementation of the Graduate Program UB, then started the school year 2009/2010 the entire course of engineering sciences is managed by the Faculty of Engineering UB.

Thus a change in the name of the Graduate Program UB (PPSUB) into Master and Doctoral Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (PMD FTUB). Then, starting in 2013 with the development of the situation and demands the fulfillment of quality assurance in the Faculty of Engineering, Master’s and Doctoral programs all placed in each department accordingly.
