Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) was established and first held lectures in 1983 with the status still Studies Program (PS) Architecture FTUB under the Department of Civil Engineering, based on the Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 118 / DIKTI / Kep / 1984 dated September 24, 1984. Furthermore, based on the Decision of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 70 / Higher Education / Kep / 1994 dated March 5, 1994 on the Establishment of Architecture DEPARTMENT FTUB at UB Faculty of Engineering, Department of status to be one of the Department under the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya. Architecture DEPARTMENT FTUB has been accredited with an A rating, by BAN PT (National Accreditation Board of Higher Education) by Decree No. 047 / BAN-PT / Ak-XII / S1 / II / 2010 dated February 20, 2010.

Establishment Department refers to the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering and UB and focuses on the scientific fields of Architecture. Earlier this department stands, still with about 160 credits, after several changes in the curriculum, with the aim of accelerating the period of study and graduation, number of credits continued to decrease until today to Strata 1 to 144 credits.

Department of Architecture is one of the six majors and two courses in the Faculty of Engineering UB. Fifth other majors are Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Water Engineering and the Department of City and Regional Planning.

PS S1 Architecture FTUB confirmed as the Department of Architecture FTUB based Decision Director General of Higher Education and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 70 / DIKTI / Kep / 1994 dated March 5, 1994 on the Establishment of the Department of Architecture FTUB at UB Faculty of Engineering. Status Program as well as a Department under the Faculty of Engineering, University of Brawijaya, no longer under the Department of Civil Engineering.

Period Year 1998/1999

The first student Extension Program Admissions and Transfer Study carried out in the period 1998/1999. In the same period also held the Opening Program of Urban and Regional Planning.

Period Year 2004/2005

In the period 2004/2005 PS S1 Architecture FTUB has been accredited with B ratings, by BAN PT (National Accreditation Board of Higher Education) by Decree No. 06811 / Ak-VII-S1-037 / UBGTEA / IX / 2004 dated September 6, 2004. In This period also PS S1 Architecture obtaining funds and implementing the Local Competition Grant Program / University.

Period Year 2005/2006

In the period 2005/2006 Program status of Urban and Regional Planning Studies into the Department under the Faculty of Engineering, University of Brawijaya, no longer under the Department of Architecture. In the period this year also PS S1 Architecture acquire and implement the Competition Grant Program (FLE) A2 Year 2005-2007 of the Directorate General of Higher Education Ministry of National Education.

Period Year 2006/2007

In December 2006 PS S1 Architecture organized a National Seminar on Architectural Education as well as the organizer of the National Conference of the Association of Higher Education Indonesian Architecture (MUNAS APTARI). In this National Conference Board PS S1 Architectural become APTARI period 2006-2009, as Treasurer. On January 5, 2007 PS S1 Architecture occupies a new building itself. In 2007, the PS S1 has a Professor of Architecture, with the inauguration Prof. Ir. SPACE, M.Eng., Ph.D. as Professor of Architecture at the University of Brawijaya Division of History and Architecture Preservation.

Period Year 2008/2009

In September-October 2008, PS S1 commemorate Lustrum V by organizing several scientific activities, community service and others. Several national seminars have been held in this period, among others: National Seminar on “Good Business With Green Design” (8 November 2008), a National Seminar on “The Art of Lighting: Between Aesthetics & Energy Efficiency” (May 9, 2009); National Seminar “Local Green Architecture in Urban Space” (10 April 2010).

Accreditation obtain an A rating by BAN PT (National Accreditation Board of Higher Education) by Decree No. 047 / BAN-PT / Ak-XII / S1 / II / 2010 on February 20, 2010.In 2010, 10 major achievement (rank 8 out of 33 auditees PS S1 / PS) UBAQA (UB Annual Quality Award) in 2009, which is given to academic units that have implemented SPM well, according to standards that have been set

Period Year 2011/2012

In the period 2011/2012 a change of leadership of the PS S1 (September 2011) Period X (2011-2014). In this period several activities organized scientific meetings either a local, regional, national or international, that stand out are “Guest Lecture Workshop and architects along National” with the theme “Contemporary Architecture Nusantara (2011-2012)”. This workshop was organized serially-monthly by inviting National Professional Architect-Architect, which up to 2012 had been held 12 times (six times in 2011 and six times in 2012). In the same year was held for the first time, an international seminar The 12th International Conference on Sustainable Environment and Architecture (SENVAR) XII entitled “‘Nusantara’ (Local) Wisdom fo the Better Future of Sustainable Architecture” (10 to 11 November 2011), which held in Widyaloka, UB.

Period Year 2012/2013

In 2012 PS S1 attempt to go one step further towards international accreditation by following the grant competition B2 UB until the final presentation stage. In the same year also held a National Seminar Universe Architecture Nusantara I (December 12, 2012) and twice as a guest lecture “Visiting Professor” (the first one. Prof. Robert Vale and Prof. Tri Harso Karyono, and the second, Prof. Hamdan Ahmad and Dr. Cand. Tareq Gaber Farera).

Period Year 2013/2014

In 2013, PS S1 Architecture commemorating the age of 30 years by conducting LUSTRUM VI with the theme “Architecture For Friendship”, the top event on August 24, 2013 in the form of activities Akbar Alumni and Alumni Workshop curriculum together. At the end of the same year, also has done several times a guest lecture “Visiting Professor”, the first. Ass Prof. Tetsu Kubota (November 2013), the second one, Prof. Hamdan Ahmad and Dr. Dilshan Remaz Ossen). In addition, also held workshops and guest lectures with the theme “VRML System Utilization to Encourage Community Participation on City Planning and Design Process” (December 5 s / d December 7th 2013) with presenters by Prof. Shinji Ikaruga from Yamaguchi University (Sensei / Supervisor Doctoral Program Herry Santosa, ST., MT.), Prof. Ir. Space, M.Eng., Ph.D. and Hery Santosa, ST., MT. of UB.

In 2014, PS S1 Architecture to prepare and submit documents for accreditation to BAN-PT. Department of Architecture FTUB regain accreditation rated A, by BAN PT (National Accreditation Board of Higher Education) by Decree No. 089 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / S / III / 2015 dated March 14, 2015.
